Research Engineer – Mapping and Localisation (C++ / SLAM / ML)

We are recruiting for a Research Engineer – Mapping and Localisation for an exciting start up in Cambridge. 

Our client is made up of experienced founders, world-class scientists and professor supervision, the team is accelerating advanced research learning and applying in the real world. 

As a Research Engineer – Mapping and Localisation you will work in the mapping and localisation team, mainly focusing on online mapping and localisation, experiment with and implement state-of-the-art algorithms for localisation and mapping and collaborate with a team of world-class engineers with diverse backgrounds in areas such as AI, robotics, mechatronics, planning, control, localisation, and computer vision.

Required skills:

• Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, or a related field from a world-class university.
• You are fluent in modern C++ and preferably you have worked with C++ in a large software project.
• You have a solid understanding of probability and probabilistic modelling.
• You have implemented localisation and/or SLAM algorithms.
• You are aware of and interested in the latest research in these areas.
• Experience with machine learning for vision is a plus.
• Experience with ROS is a plus.
• You’ve experience of the full software development lifecycle within a fast moving and innovative industry.
• You’ve seen what a great engineering environment looks like and will bring your experience into the room for us to be the best we can be
