Our client is an extremely well funded autonomous driving start-up company based in Cambridge. Their aim is to develop a level 5 autonomous vehicle, trialing a level 4 by 2019.

They have a requirement for a Software Engineer to work within their maps team. 

What are the responsibilities in this C++ Software Engineer (Maps, GIS, SLAM) role?

  • You will be working in the mapping and localisation team, predominantly focusing on integrating both online and offline map data throughout the software stack. 
  • You will collaborate with a team of world-class engineers with diverse backgrounds in areas such as AI, robotics, mechatronics, planning, control, localisation, computer vision and simulation. 

What are the requirements in this C++ Software Engineer (Maps, GIS, SLAM) role? 

  • 5+ years experience in modern C++ and have worked with a large C++ software project 
  • You have experience with GIS and usage of maps in a software system. Experience with OpenStreetMap or Ordnance Survey is useful 
  • You have extensive experience with algorithms and data structures to perform map queries efficiently 
  • Experience with ROS is a plus
