Nuremberg, Germany

Nuremberg is located on the Pegnitz River with a population of about 508,000, making it the second largest city in Bavaria after Munich. It is a lovely, romantic city, it’s medieval feel mixing wonderfully with the modern.

The old town is beautiful and retains much of it’s original medieval architecture and charm, including a castle and ancient city walls. Multiple bridges span the river that divides the town. As an innovative base for technology and being so central in Germany, Nuremberg has also modernised and become a key industrial player. It is very well connected by air and train to many major cities. Compared to other larger German cities like Munich, Nuremberg’s cost of living is relatively low and it also has a very low crime rate. The result makes Nuremberg a great place to live.

Nuremberg locals are a friendly bunch. Night life is very lively, with some good Irish/English bars and many restaurants.

Nuremberg plays host to Volksfest, which is like a small Oktoberfest that runs twice a year, as well as Altstadtfest (Old Town Festival) in September.
