Vice President of Software

We are seeking a growth-oriented software leader who can take the company from concept

stage to commercial operation. The VP Software sets requirements, architects the platform,

hires the team and drives execution. They work closely with team members to create an exceptional culture of coding innovation.

We currently employ approximately 60 people of which 11 people are in the Software team,

which will expand further to support growth. The VP Software is a key member of the executive

team and will closely with the CEO, CTO, VP Corporate Development, and VP Operations.

Responsibilities of the VP Software include:

• Assume the role of our first software engineering lead and become a critical partner to the founders.
• Devise and execute on a plan for hiring a lean, high-performance software engineering team with the necessary domain expertise.
• Be fully capable of coding and driving code reviews to continuously raise the quality and efficiency bars for current and future software engineers.
• Work cross-functionally to ensure that the software engineering team is delivering products of the quality, of the depth/breadth, and in a timeframe that aligns with our commercial goals.
• Select and manage development tools to support a highly efficient & agile environment.
• Design a winning culture for the engineering team that aligns with our vision, values and mission.

Professional Experience/Qualifications

• Highly technical and capable of coding
• Domain expertise in self-driving technology or mapping is a huge advantage
• Up-to-date with the latest research in machine learning, mapping, robotics, and related fields
• Experienced with C++ and hands-on understanding of computer vision, deep learning, and real-time robotics technology
• Very well-versed in building highly complex data architectures and platforms
• Experienced hiring and managing 10+ engineers

• An undergraduate degree in computer science or engineering is required; advanced degrees are viewed favourably.
