About the Role

An established European technology group is expanding its cloud engineering capability within the space and critical infrastructure domain. This team designs, builds, and operates secure, cloud-based platforms that support mission-critical ground segment operations.

Due to growing demand and ongoing platform evolution, we are hiring a Cloud Engineer to play a key role in the transition from private/on-premise infrastructure toward hybrid and public cloud environments.

The Opportunity

You will join the Ground Operations team, contributing to the design and delivery of cloud-native platforms used to manage workloads for space ground segments and operator services.

The focus of this role is broad cloud engineering and DevSecOps enablement rather than pure microservices development.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Designing and implementing hybrid and public cloud architectures.

• Supporting the migration from on-prem/private cloud to hybrid/public environments.

• Managing Kubernetes-based workloads for mission-critical systems.

• Overseeing and evolving service mesh implementations.

• Supporting ground segment deployments for operators.

• Contributing to DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD evolution (e.g., migration toward GitHub-based workflows).

• Managing and improving Git-based pipelines (currently GitLab).

• Building reusable templates and tooling for application teams.

• Supporting security hardening and certification processes for higher-assurance environments.

• Identifying vulnerabilities and implementing infrastructure and deployment improvements.

• Collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a Cloud Engineer with strong hands-on experience across infrastructure, DevOps, and security in complex environments.

Experience in space is not required. Backgrounds in telecom, finance, or other regulated industries are highly relevant.

Core experience:

• Public, private, and hybrid cloud infrastructure.

• Kubernetes in production environments.

• DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipeline management.

• Infrastructure security and identity & access management.

• Networking fundamentals in cloud environments.

• Experience supporting high-availability or mission-critical platforms.

Valued experience:

• Service mesh technologies.

• Migration from on-premise to public cloud.

• Working in regulated or security-certified environments.

• Building internal platform templates for development teams.

• Agile and collaborative engineering environments.

We are open to candidates across mid-level to senior profiles, depending on experience alignment and budget.

Location

• Madrid (preferred) – 3 days onsite per week.

• Candidates should be comfortable working in a highly collaborative, engineering-driven environment.
