Lead Researcher – Disaggregated Datacenter Network Virtualization

You will be joining a world-leading technology company at their lab Munich.

Take charge of pioneering research and development in network virtualization for next-gen disaggregated datacenter systems. Design and prototype scalable, high-performance IO virtualization solutions optimized for cloud-native and serverless platforms. Contribute to academic and industry impact through publications, patents, and open-source initiatives. Foster strategic partnerships with top-tier universities and research bodies.

Responsibilities

• Spearhead innovation in network virtualization for modular datacenter environments
• Develop and test robust IO virtualization architectures for modern cloud ecosystems
• Share findings via patents, papers, and contributions to open-source and industry forums
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with academic and research institutions

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven R&D background in datacenter infrastructure technologies
• Expertise in areas such as:
  • Software-defined networking and datacenter network design
  • DPDK, Open vSwitch (OVS), VirtIO, KVM/Qemu
  • SmartNICs, SR-IOV, PCIe passthrough, hardware offload techniques
  • TCP/IP stack and RDMA architecture
• Demonstrated impact through technical publications, patents, or open-source work
• Strong leadership and communication skills with cross-functional collaboration experience
• Knowledge of CXL or UEC architectures and their role in memory and device disaggregation is advantageous
