Legal Counsel – UK & EU Consumer Business

Key Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end legal support for UK consumer business operations, ensuring alignment with local laws and regulatory expectations.

• Lead legal compliance reviews for product launches, confirming adherence to UK consumer, product, and electronic goods legislation.

• Review and advise on privacy and data protection compliance for online store operations, product features, digital services, and customer interactions.

• Deliver timely day-to-day legal advice and risk assessments to business and commercial teams.

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with consumer-facing partners in the UK.

• Support the business in responding to regulatory inquiries and engaging with UK regulators as needed.

• Provide legal opinions and support on consumer complaints, disputes, warranty issues, and related case management.

EU Marketing & Compliance (English-Language Markets)

• Review and advise on English-language marketing materials used across Europe to ensure compliance with EU consumer protection and advertising laws.

• Identify regulatory risks in promotional content, consumer communications, and marketing campaigns, and guide teams toward compliant solutions.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: UK law degree (LLB/GDL) and qualification as a solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent).

• Experience: Minimum 3 years PQE gained in consumer protection, technology, e-commerce, or related practice areas, either in a law firm or in-house.

• Expertise in UK B2C Legal Frameworks, including:

  • Consumer Rights Act, Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations, and related consumer legislation.

  • Advertising and marketing compliance requirements.

  • Electronic product compliance, safety, and market access rules.

  • Data protection and privacy, including UK GDPR and PECR.

• Knowledge of EU frameworks, including EU consumer protection law and advertising/marketing regulatory requirements.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, practical, business-focused legal advice.

• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, international environment.
