MacOS Desktop Staff Software Engineer

We’re partnering with a high-growth AI software business in the time & productivity space. Their flagship product automatically captures how professionals spend their digital workday — then converts that activity into meaningful, billable insights.

This is a hybrid work policy based in San Francisco and visa sponsorship is not available – you must have full right to work in the US at time of application.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead design and development of MacOS desktop software that captures the digital footprint of professional workers.
• Own and evolve the desktop assistant — the most mission-critical system in the platform.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (product, backend, data) to integrate desktop data capture with core product features.
• Build client applications that adapt to the evolving workflows and needs of knowledge workers.
• Develop and maintain engineering services for ingesting, enriching, and processing captured activity data.
• Ensure performance, stability, and security of MacOS desktop solutions in production.

Key Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience building applications for MacOS platform/systems with millions of users
• 5+ years building mission-critical MacOS desktop software at scale
• Deep expertise in Swift, Objective-C, SwiftUI, Cocoa/AppKit, Core MacOS APIs, PKG/DMG
• Experience with C, Rust, POSIX/Darwin system calls, and macOS system extensions (File Provider, DriverKit)
• Lead or management role experience is good while still hands on
• Experience working with generative AI or LLMs is a plus
