Mechanical Engineer
We’re partnering with a cutting-edge life sciences company on a mission to accelerate research using AI, robotics, and biology. They are developing a platform that scales lab work and generates vastly more data, enabling faster drug development and breakthrough biological models.
You’ll be joining a small, fast-moving, and mission-driven group of engineers and scientists from top tech and robotics companies. The culture is collaborative, hands-on, and intellectually curious — with plenty of energy both in and outside the lab. Expect lively technical debates, rapid prototyping, and a shared passion for building world-changing systems.
They’re seeking a Mechanical Engineer to help design and build the next generation of robotic lab automation systems. You’ll take ownership of mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and iteration — turning ideas into robust, production-ready hardware.
This is a full time, onsite position in San Francisco and you must be able to share a portfolio of demonstrable projects – personal or professional.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, analyze, and iterate on mechanical systems and components
- Develop detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings
- Prototype and test robotic hardware in real-world lab settings
- Create solutions for precise manipulation of lab instruments and tools
Key Requirements:
- Strong mechanical intuition and hands-on engineering skills
- Experience designing, assembling, and debugging complex hardware
- Proficiency with CAD tools and mechanical design best practices
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, experimental environment
- BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with PLM systems and document control
- Background in mechatronics, robotics, or motion control
- Familiarity with robot arms, sensors, or lab automation
- Programming experience with robotic systems
