Multidisciplinary RF Lab Engineer
Multidisciplinary RF Lab Engineer
Job location: Hamburg, Germany
Type of role: Freelancer, 3 days in Lab / week
Tasks:
- Support the development and automation of RF and communications test solutions.
- Design, build, and maintain mechanical prototypes and fixtures for RF test setups.
- Execute RF measurements and validation tasks with good understanding of high-frequency principles.
- Develop and integrate RF and mechanical systems for automated test execution and lab workflows.
- Analyze and troubleshoot issues across software, hardware, and measurement equipment.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of lab automation architecture, including mechanical and RF components.
- Create hardware and software tools to enhance RF lab efficiency.
- Support feasibility studies and prototyping for RF systems and mechanical demonstrators.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of mechanical and RF systems.
- Document procedures and maintain records in compliance with ISO9001/IATF16949 standards.
Profile:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in robotics (e.g., collaborative robots, motion control systems).
- Practical skills in mechanical design and prototyping (e.g., CAD, 3D printing, machining).
- Good knowledge of RF measurement techniques and equipment (e.g., VNAs, spectrum analyzers).
- Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or similar scripting languages; experience with automation frameworks is a plus.
- Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, SystemVue) and data analysis methods.
- Structured, solution-oriented, and quality-focused work style.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); German is a plus.
- Willingness to travel internationally (~2–4 weeks/year).
