Network Research Engineer

You will be joining an established network communications lab within a world-leading technology company at their lab Munich.
 

You will focus on advancing the next generation of communication and networking systems for industrial environments. You will bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical application, ensuring that emerging technologies meet the rigorous demands of modern infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Technology Advancement: Lead research initiatives focused on evolving networking and communication frameworks.
• Prototyping & Validation: Architect and build functional proof-of-concepts for diverse sectors, including smart manufacturing, power grids, and automated processing.
• Thought Leadership: Author technical white papers, contribute to academic publications, and influence the development of official industry standards.
• Strategic Collaboration: Forge and manage partnerships with industrial stakeholders to drive collective innovation.
• Market Intelligence: Identify emerging business cases and technical requirements by representing the company at elite conferences and trade fairs.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology
• Expertise in industrial protocols such as TSN, EtherCAT, Profinet, and standard TCP/IP suites.
• Practical knowledge of Ethernet physical layers (10/100/1000BASE-T) and bus systems like CAN or RS485.
• Profound grasp of transmission line theory, specifically regarding propagation delay, characteristic impedance, and crosstalk
• Familiarity with the operational requirements of smart cities, transportation networks, and industrial automation.
• Professional fluency in English and German is essential.
