Power Electronics R&D Engineer – Automotive
You will be joining an innovative automotive technology engineering lab within a world-leading technology company at their lab Nuremberg.
We are looking for an experienced Power Electronics R&D Engineer to contribute to the development of next-generation automotive systems, with a focus on digital power solutions. This role involves defining system requirements, shaping technology roadmaps, and leading the design and validation of advanced power conversion systems.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to define requirements for power electronics in areas such as EV powertrains, motor control units, and battery charging.
- Contribute to the development roadmap for future digital power products and packaging technologies.
- Research and design innovative converter architectures and topologies.
- Oversee parameter design, component layout, prototyping, and testing in R&D labs.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, sharing technical expertise.
- Present and defend concepts to stakeholders, supporting decision-making processes.
Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field, ideally with automotive sector experience (OEM or Tier 1).
- Strong knowledge of power converter principles, magnetic design, semiconductor devices, and control strategies.
- Practical experience in product development, prototyping, and validation of power converters.
- Skilled in simulation, analysis, and design for power electronics (loss analysis, semiconductor selection, PCB design, modulation, magnetic components).
- Independent, hands-on, and solution-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel for project needs.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
