Principal Engineer – Functional Safety in Active Safety Systems

You will be joining an innovative Automotive engineering lab within a world-leading technology company at their lab Nuremberg.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop functional safety protocols for the intelligent chassis system, including ID/HARA/FSC/TSC/TSR/FMEA/FTA/DFA.
• Define the functional safety variation strategy for the intelligent chassis system.
• Establish failure diagnosis and safe state strategies at both the system and software levels.
• Contribute to hardware and software design for functional safety, and review hardware, software designs, and test specifications.
• Develop and manage functional safety requirements, including system requirements specifications.
• Build system function models and simulations for HARA.
• Develop functional safety test scenarios and cases, and create system function verification and integration test specifications, including subsystem test plans, and assist with testing.
• Provide technical support throughout the development process, including DV/PV, mass production, and after-sales service.
• Research and implement state-of-the-art functional safety strategies for the intelligent chassis, maintaining technical leadership in functional safety solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Vehicle Engineering, Mechanical & Electronic Engineering, Automation, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in functional safety development for braking systems or chassis electronics. Required experience includes ESP/IBooster/IBP/EMB functional safety design at both system and software levels, as well as ABS/TCS/ESC functional safety development.
• Experience in failure monitoring and diagnosis strategies for braking systems relevant to functional safety.
• Proficiency with tools such as CANape/Analyzer, Matlab/Simulink, and CarMaker/CarSim, with preference for experience in CarMaker.
• Familiarity with HARA, FMEA, FTA, and other failure analysis methods.
• Knowledge of automotive functional safety standards, including ISO 26262.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
