Project Manager Asset Management – Engineering Projects
Position Title: Project Manager
Department: Asset Management – Engineering Projects
Location: Cork, Ireland
Contract Type: Technical Contract (Long-Term Opportunity)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the Engineering Project Delivery team of a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Cork. This contract position is responsible for the execution of strategic, multi-disciplinary capital projects across a large-scale, GMP-regulated production environment.
You will lead and manage the full lifecycle of engineering projects—from initial scoping and capital approvals through to construction, commissioning, qualification, and handover. This is a dynamic, stakeholder-facing role within a high-performing cross-functional team.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the safe and efficient delivery of capital engineering projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality expectations are consistently met.

Develop project scopes, estimates, schedules, and obtain capital approvals.

Manage project resources, risks, and stakeholder communications.

Oversee design, procurement, construction, and C&Q (Commissioning & Qualification) activities.

Drive compliance with GMP, GDP, and Change Control procedures throughout the project lifecycle.

Coordinate across internal teams (Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Validation, MSAT, etc.) and third-party contractors/suppliers.

Lead project meetings and ensure accurate documentation and reporting.

Conduct post-project reviews to identify performance metrics and lessons learned.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and collaboration across teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
-
Degree-qualified in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
-
Minimum 8 years of industry experience, including at least 3 years in pharmaceuticals or medical devices, and 3 years in a project management role.

Strong communicator with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
-
Demonstrated experience delivering projects in GMP-regulated environments.
Desirable Skills
-
API or pharmaceutical manufacturing background
-
Qualification or certification in Project Management
-
Familiarity with SAP, LIMS, and business systems
-
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
-
Training in Six Sigma, Kepner-Tregoe, or other problem-solving methodologies
-
Experience working within a global or multinational engineering team

Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Responsibilities
This role operates within a regulated EHS environment. The Project Manager is expected to:

Adhere to all site safety policies, EHS standards, and legal requirements

Attend relevant EHS training and promote a safety-first culture

Ensure use of PPE and equipment in accordance with site policy

Report incidents, hazards, or near misses as per protocol
