Research Engineer – Affective Computing
As a Research Engineer in Affective Computing, you will investigate how AI can recognize and respond to emotional cues across different modalities, including face, voice, and text. Your work will contribute to groundbreaking applications that make human-machine interaction more expressive, adaptive, and truly human-centered.
Responsibilities

Conduct research on affective computing, multimodal learning, and emotion-aware AI.

Design and evaluate algorithms and models that improve emotional understanding and response.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to translate research into practical applications.

Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AI and publish your findings in leading academic venues.
Essential Requirements
-
PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Affective Computing, or a related field.
-
Strong programming skills in Python and solid experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
-
0-5 years experience post PhD and experience with multimodal large language models (MLLMs), including applications in speech processing such as emotion detection or expressive synthesis.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Proven track record of research publications in relevant conferences and journals.

Hands-on experience with multimodal data analysis, training, tuning, or evaluating MLLMs.

Familiarity with the latest state-of-the-art MLLMs and their architectural advances, such as long-context support, chain-of-thought prompting, or reasoning capabilities.

Familiarity with human-computer interaction (HCI) principles.

Previous involvement in interdisciplinary research projects.

Knowledge of ethical considerations in affective computing.
