Researcher – Disaggregated Datacenter Network Virtualization

You will be joining a world-leading technology company at their lab Munich.

Join a cutting-edge research team focused on advancing network virtualization for modular datacenter architectures. Develop scalable solutions that connect compute, memory, and storage across cloud-native and serverless platforms. Collaborate with experts and contribute to impactful publications, patents, and open-source initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Investigate virtualization methods for elastic, scalable datacenter interconnects
• Build and test experimental frameworks for disaggregated infrastructure
• Publish research, file patents, and support open-source development
• Partner with engineers, academics, and senior researchers on strategic topics

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or related field with specialization in networking, virtualization, or architecture.
• Strong foundation in one or more of the following:
  • Datacenter networking and SDN
  • Virtualization tools (VirtIO, OVS, KVM/Qemu)
  • High-performance IO (RDMA, DPDK, SmartNICs)
  • TCP/IP stack and low-level system programming
• Proven research capability through publications or open-source contributions
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to work both independently and in teams
• Knowledge of CXL, PCIe disaggregation, or Ultra Ethernet is a plus
