Senior Legal Counsel
Role Overview
This is a senior legal role supporting commercial, corporate, intellectual property, employment, and compliance matters related to research and development operations in Ireland. You will work closely with global legal teams, providing strategic legal advice to support innovation and business operations in a cutting-edge, multinational technology environment.
The role is suitable for experienced Legal Executives, in-house Counsel, or Solicitors with strong commercial acumen and relevant in-house or secondment experience.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal support across a broad range of commercial, research, and compliance matters
• Draft and review a variety of contracts: NDAs, service agreements, procurement contracts, IP agreements (including research and licensing), and real estate agreements
• Advise on regulatory compliance, including anti-bribery, data protection (GDPR), and export control
• Deliver legal training sessions to non-legal teams on key compliance topics
• Monitor legal developments, assess risks, and advise on business impact
• Collaborate with local and international stakeholders to support research centres and business units
• Contribute to regional legal initiatives and help develop best practices

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with a minimum of 5 years’ PQE (private practice or in-house)
• Strong legal drafting and contract negotiation skills
• Solid background in commercial and employment law, and related compliance areas
• Knowledge of intellectual property law (particularly patents, trade secrets, copyright, know-how)
• Ability to simplify complex legal issues and communicate clearly with non-legal teams
• Experience working with global teams in a multi-cultural, cross-border setting
• Pragmatic, commercially aware, and able to prioritize competing demands
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• High level of professional integrity and discretion
• Excellent academic credentials from a recognized institution

Preferred Experience

• Prior in-house legal experience
• Experience with cross-border commercial transactions
• Familiarity with employment law or real estate matters
• Knowledge of academic-industry research collaborations
• Experience in IP protection, licensing, or litigation
• Understanding of trade compliance and engagement with regulatory bodies
