Are you passionate about precision optics and cutting-edge laser systems? Do you thrive on turning bold ideas into working prototypes? We’re looking for a Senior Optical Engineer to shape the optical backbone of our next-generation quantum processors.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and align complex free-space and fiber-based optical systems for manipulating neutral atoms.
- Optimize optical setups to hit the sweet spot between performance, tolerances, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate on custom optical components and integrated optomechanical systems.
- Create robust optomechanical assemblies with strategies for alignment, stability, and modularity.
- Automate and monitor optical subsystems to ensure smooth, continuous operation.
- Troubleshoot and refine complex optical systems, developing diagnostic tools along the way.
- Document designs, alignment procedures, and tests; actively contribute to design reviews and improvement initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- Master’s or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- 5–8+ years designing optical and optomechanical systems in research or industry.
- Hands-on experience assembling and aligning optical setups.
- Skilled with CAD tools like Zemax and SolidWorks.
- Deep understanding of lasers, modulators, high-NA systems, and preferably optical resonators or microscopy.
- Excited by moving from concept to prototype and iterating until it’s perfect.
- A genuine optical enthusiast who loves clever setups and fine-tuning systems.
