Senior Security Engineering Expert

You will be joining an established security engineering lab within a world-leading technology company at their lab Munich.
 

We are seeking a visionary Principal Cybersecurity Engineering Strategist to lead the business planning and technical evolution of our security engineering capabilities. This is a high-impact, senior leadership role focused on aligning our end-to-end (E2E) cybersecurity assurance framework with global industry standards, emerging technologies, and complex regulatory landscapes.

The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between “bleeding-edge” research and practical engineering governance, ensuring our systems remain trustworthy, compliant, and ahead of the threat curve.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Governance

• Business Planning: Lead the strategic roadmap for security engineering capabilities to support a robust E2E cybersecurity assurance framework.

• Trend Monitoring: Gain deep insights into “state-of-the-art” and emerging industry developments to ensure technical readiness.

• Policy Development: Establish and maintain global policies, procedures, and standards for security engineering governance in alignment with best practices and regulatory mandates.

• Compliance & Demonstration: Ensure governance models meet customer and regulatory requirements, providing measurable proof of compliance through advanced engineering methods.

Technical Leadership & Innovation

• Advanced Methodologies: Develop and apply next-generation security engineering methods and technologies across the organization.

• Standardization: Actively represent the company in international standardization bodies to promote advanced security engineering and testing methodologies.

• Internal Advocacy: Identify gaps in current security engineering practices and champion the adoption of modern methods to build internal and external trust.

Ecosystem & External Engagement

• External Representation: Act as a thought leader at academic and industry conferences, engaging directly with regulators and key customers.

• Partnership Building: Drive collaboration with academic institutions and industry partners to foster a world-class security engineering ecosystem.

• Collaborative Initiatives: Identify and lead joint cooperation projects on advanced security topics (e.g., AI security, post-quantum cryptography).

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (with a track record of technical contribution).
• 15+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, product security, or security governance
• In-depth understanding of network security principles.
• Expertise in one or more domains: Cryptography, Identity & Access Control (IAM), Integrity Protection, Data Security, Vulnerability Prevention, or Privacy Protection.
• Deep familiarity with NIST 800-53, 800-160, 800-161 and ISO 27034, 27002.
• Full professional proficiency in English with the ability to influence both technical teams and executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• AI Security: Expertise in AI threat modeling, AI vulnerability management, and integrity protection for machine learning systems.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Specific experience navigating European regulations such as CRA (Cyber Resilience Act), EUCC, and RED (Radio Equipment Directive).
• Standardization Expertise: Proven track record of contributing to international standardization systems (e.g., ISO, IEC, ETSI).
