Senior Test Engineer – Gearbox / Actuator

As a Senior Test Engineer, you will be the final authority on performance and reliability for the next generation of robotic muscles. You will design the rigs, define the protocols, and provide the critical data loops that allow our design teams to push the boundaries of what is possible in human-centered robotics.

Responsibilities

You will take end-to-end ownership of the validation strategy for complex, high-performance gearbox systems.

• Architect Validation Frameworks: Design and build custom mechanical test benches and experimental rigs from the ground up.

• Deep-Dive Analysis: Evaluate critical metrics including torque efficiency, thermal behavior, friction losses, and backdrivability.

• Design Influence: You don’t just report failures; you identify root causes and recommend engineering improvements, working as a peer to the Design team.

• Process Leadership: Establish structured validation protocols and mentor junior engineers as we scale toward industrial-grade series production.

   

Essential Requirements

• Educational Background: Master’s or Industrial degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering.

• Industry Tenure: 7+ years in mechanical testing, drivetrain validation, or complex mechatronic evaluation.

• The “Builder” Edge: A strong hands-on affinity for assembling complex electromechanical setups and instrumenting experimental rigs.

• Analytical Precision: The ability to translate multidimensional raw data into clear, actionable engineering conclusions.

• Autonomy: A proven ability to drive validation campaigns independently in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

• Hardware Integration: Expertise in mechanical/electromechanical assembly of complex test rigs.

• Instrumentation & DAQ: High proficiency with sensors (torque, vibration, NVH, temperature) and Data Acquisition systems.

• Data Processing: Advanced skills in MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW for processing and visualizing performance data.

• Reliability Testing: Experience designing long-duration endurance tests and troubleshooting complex system failures.

• Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between deep technical findings and high-level reports for stakeholders and customers.
