Lead Equipment Engineer

European Recruitment are working closely with a leading materials science company, based in the Boston, who are looking for an experienced Lead Equipment Engineer to join their team.

In this role you will support the R&D and manufacturing operations for the client’s site. In order to be successful within this role you should have hands-on experience and a strong technical base in manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities as Lead Equipment Engineer:

  • Oversee acquisition, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposition of R&D and manufacturing equipment
  • Duties will involve working with OEMs and contract manufacturers
  • Oversees / establishes a routine and periodic maintenance schedule based on vendor information
  • Retrofit/source/procure replacement parts
  • Execute and monitor preventive maintenance program for manufacturing equipment
  • Establish and maintain critical spare parts lists for all equipment
  • Provide input and collaborate with the teams to ensure equipment is operating at maximum capacity
  • Support companywide initiatives and drive continuous improvement activities

Requirements:

  • A.S degree in engineering studies required; B.S. degree in engineering or related field preferred
  • 7+ years in industrial/manufacturing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair; strong electrical background is preferred
  • Must be proficient in mechanical assemblies, able to read prints and schematics: have machinery, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic experience
  • Ability to perform well in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment with the special challenges of a start-up company
  • Demonstrated, hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to work across disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, chemical and materials
  • Must be able to move objects up to 25 pounds in all directions; must be able to move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in environments including tight and confined spaces
