2nd/3rd Line IT Support Engineer  – Linux, Networking 

We are recruiting for a 2nd / 3rd Line IT Support Engineer with extensive experience using Linux to join my client in the Kent area on an initial 6 month contract (with extensions extremely likely)

Our client is a globally known technology company based in Kent and as a 2nd/3rd Line Support Engineer you will be responsible for verifying, investigating and identifying users’ issues when they raise support tickets or calls, tracking and managing IT assets as they are transferred to users, and building and installing multiple Linux systems.

This customer-facing role will also involve co-working with colleagues across Europe and the US and may include occasional travel between their UK and wider European sites.

Essential skills

• Be familiar with Linux environments, such as RHEL5~7 and Ubuntu12~16
• Understand NFS protocol
• Have more than 1-year experience for support Linux environments
• Understand basic network services, such as DHCP, DNS, NIS and so on

Desired skills

• Good communication skills
• Basic understanding for supporting Windows environments
• Experience for supporting environments which are running EDA tools, such as Cadence and Synopsis.
• Experience for supporting LSF queuing system
• Basic understanding of VMware platform

This role will include travel up to 2-3 times a month to their European HQ which is approx. 1 hour away.
