Deep Learning & Computer Vision Research Engineer

European Recruitment are working closely with an exciting tech startup, based in Bressanone, who are looking for a talented Deep Learning & Computer Vision Research Engineer to join their team.

Our client are a computer vision & deep learning focused research application centre who aim to accelerate vision technology adoption in industrial automation.

In this role you will be searching, validating, and optimizing the latest research developments to meet specific innovation needs while pushing forward the state-of-the-art in applied computer vision.

Responsibilities as Deep Learning & Computer Vision Research Engineer:

• Convert state-of-the-art research to reliably working prototypes and keep up-to date with the latest computer vision and deep learning developments.
• Identify the limitations of state-of-the-art research in relation to industry needs, as well as addressing them through focused development.
• Customize and train the latest deep learning model architectures on a plurality of camera and sensor data to handle complex scenarios of production, inspection, quality control, and other industrial processes.

Requirements:

• MSc. with 3+ years of experience or PhD in Computer Science or related field, preferably in a deep-tech or ML company.
• Ability to deep-dive into research papers, down to a technical depth required to translate them into code using both existing toolkits and self-developed code.
• Hands-on experience with computer vision and deep learning frameworks (such as OpenCV, Open3D, PCL, PyTorch, PyTorch Lightning, Tensorflow, Jax).
• Ability in coding computer vision and machine learning algorithms in Python and/or C++.
• Experience in CNNs, vision transformers and foundation models; interest in multimodal, diffusion models and synthetic dataset generation.

Desirable Experience:

• Experience on training models on multi-gpu and/or cloud infrastructure; you know the basics of AWS EC2, S3, Sagemaker or equivalent.
• Publications in top tier conferences is a plus.
