Research Engineer – 5G Research – PhD / AI / ML / 3GPP

A global leader in consumer electronics is looking for a Research Engineer in 5G Research to join them at their European HQ based 30 minutes outside of London.

In this role, you would work on 5G-PPP projects, research on end-to-end system, physical and network layer technologies for 5G mobile communications, implementation of Machine Learning and AI, presenting at conferences, and publications.  

Key requirements for the role:

• PhD  in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics or related discipline
• Industry experience in cellular communications with knowledge on 3G UMTS/HSPA, 3GPP, LTE and 5G
• At least 2 years in telecoms research/standardisation/development 
• Application of AI and ML to mobile network technologies
• Experience with C/C++, Matlab or Python
• Publications and patent filing is highly desirable
• Willingness to travel when needed
