Observability – Principal Engineer 

Responsibilities

• Lead technical projects autonomously, develop algorithms, and design observability solutions to assess the reliability of cloud products from a customer perspective.
• Drive innovation in the collection, pre-processing, storage, and analysis of high-cardinality and graph-based monitoring data.
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate customer-focused features into their systems, enhancing reliability and customer trust in cloud services.
• Define and manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs) to establish clear performance standards and expectations for service reliability.
• Collaborate with academic partners, industry experts, and open standards organisations to push forward the field of observability.
• Publish research findings in conferences and journals or file patents as appropriate.

Requirements

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or DevOps within the cloud/SRE sector, including at least 5 years of hands-on experience with monitoring and observability.
• In-depth knowledge of the entire software development lifecycle, encompassing coding, code reviews, version control, testing, build pipelines, and operations.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a creative approach to navigating ambiguous situations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, fostering effective collaboration.

Optional Skills

• Experience with leading monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions.
