Senior Researcher – New Storage Media Control Systems Technologies

Role Overview
As part of our cutting-edge storage technologies team, you will:

• Innovate and Develop: Design next-generation control systems for advanced storage solutions, focusing on high-performance, multi-tier systems that utilize both solid-state and magnetic media.
• Lead R&D Efforts Oversee the complete lifecycle of control technologies from design through testing and validation, ensuring they meet the rigorous demands of modern storage systems.
• Strategize for the Future: Contribute to the development of intellectual property and foster academic partnerships to create a strategic technology roadmap for an industry-leading product portfolio.
• Firmware and Prototyping: Define the requirements for firmware and steer the prototyping process, making key technical decisions to implement effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, with a strong foundation in control systems technology.
• Industry Experience: At least 3 years of experience in control systems for magnetic storage or similar fields, with a solid understanding of both hardware and software aspects.
• Technical Skills: Expertise in MATLAB and Simulink for dynamic modeling and simulation; familiarity with hardware platforms such as DSpace MicroLabBox is a plus.
• System Dynamics Expertise: In-depth knowledge of motion systems dynamics, both in time and frequency domains, including proficiency in analytical frequency transfer functions.
• Control Systems Knowledge: Strong background in frequency domain motion control, including PID and model-based feedforward and feedback control techniques tailored to mechanical systems.
• Actuator Technology: Deep understanding of electromechanical actuators, especially those based on electromagnetic principles; knowledge of reluctance force and piezoelectric actuators is beneficial.
• Predictive Control: Advanced understanding of model predictive control techniques, particularly for electrical drives such as permanent-magnet synchronous motors.
• Practical Application Ability to accurately translate real-world systems into simplified dynamic models and use these models to design effective controllers.
• **Interpersonal Skills**: Strong teamwork and leadership abilities, with excellent communication skills in English.
• **Travel Readiness**: Willingness and ability to travel as required.
