Speech Machine Learning Researcher

This is a 12 month contract position with potential to extend, visas can be considered.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in affective computing, focusing on emotion recognition from speech and expressive text-to-speech synthesis in AI systems.
• Develop innovative algorithms and models to improve the accuracy and efficiency of emotion detection from multimodal data, while enhancing the richness of emotions in synthesized speech.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate affective computing technologies into real-world applications, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of engineering requirements like low latency.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in affective computing, machine learning, and related fields.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data analysis tools.
• Solid understanding of signal processing, natural language processing, or related areas.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex ideas clearly.

Bonus requirements

• Proven track record of research publications in relevant conferences and journals.
• Experience with multimodal data analysis.
• Experience with state-of-the-art speech recognition and/or text-to-speech algorithms.
• Familiarity with human-computer interaction (HCI) principles.
• Previous involvement in interdisciplinary research projects.
• Knowledge of ethical considerations in affective computing.
