Vehicle Dynamics Control Algorithm Engineer

You will be joining a world-leading technology company at their lab in Nuremberg, within a continuously growing team offering various levels of seniority – Senior, Principal or Expert level!

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis of algorithm requirements, design architectures, & detailed designs based on system functional requirements & architecture design.
  • Take charge of vehicle stability control, torque vector control, & research, development, & application of new technologies domestically & internationally.
  • Lead modeling & optimization efforts for vehicle stability control, as well as the development of control strategies & algorithms for torque vector systems.
  • Utilize the model-based design method (MBD) to develop & validate algorithm models, involving Matlab/Simulink modeling, simulation, & road testing.
  • Establish hardware-in-the-loop test platforms & road test platforms using dSPACE/AutoBox for rapid prototyping of control algorithms & support function safety development.
  • Conduct design reviews, function verification, performance evaluations, & rectification of related issues concerning control algorithms.
  • Support vehicle performance testing & evaluation, assist in completing system performance bench tests & vehicle evaluations, & aid embedded software engineers in code transplantation.
  • Debug vehicle control algorithms to address field issues & generate reports & documentation related to control algorithm development.
  • Assist in failure mode analysis related to system development & support system function development.
  • Aid in parameter calibration by matching engineers in vehicle environments to meet customer requirements.
  • Formulate & optimize modeling specifications & processes, participate in technical reviews, & contribute to capacity building initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in vehicle engineering, automatic control, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in vehicle stability, torque vector, or brake system development, including involvement in mass production projects.
  • Proficiency in classical & modern control theory, model predictive control, robust control, & other common control methods.
  • Skilled in C language programming design & debugging, with familiarity in embedded software development & basic understanding of hardware design.
  • Proficient in Matlab/Simulink & CarSim for modeling, simulation, & code generation, with expertise in model-based development (MBD).
  • Familiarity with vehicle chassis control, body dynamics, tire characteristics, & various control algorithms such as ABS, TCS, EPS, ESC, & torque vectoring.
  • Experience in functional safety components development or torque vectoring development is advantageous.
  • Fluent in both written & spoken English, serving as the primary working language.
