Principal or Expert Engineer – Battery Safety & Battery Regulations or Standards
You will be joining a world-leading technology company at in Nuremberg, within their growing energy storage lab!

Responsibilities
- Offer insights into core technologies for next-generation advanced safety features in energy storage systems.
- Analyze future requirements based on European battery regulations and the battery passport, with a particular focus on upcoming battery management needs.
- Contribute to the development of advanced battery safety solutions that surpass current state-of-the-art and internal standards.
- Familiarize yourself with the drawbacks and regulations of residential, commercial, and utility-scale energy storage systems across various European countries.
- Engage in discussions and development of safety and performance guidelines with different European battery associations (e.g., BVES, EASE, Battery Europe).
- Represent our interests in European and international standardization efforts by participating in working groups (e.g., DKE), influencing the European battery ecosystem.
- Monitor academic advancements and research trends in electrochemical energy storage technologies in Europe. Support high-quality collaborations and sustain long-term relationships with universities and research institutions.
- Collaborate closely with the Headquarters Research Team and product teams, providing regular progress reports and presenting research results to sponsors.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree or (pending) PhD in Energy Storage, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Automotive Engineering, Control Science & Engineering, Electrochemistry, or a related field.
- Extensive academic or professional experience with European battery standards and regulations. Active participation or past involvement in European battery alliances such as Battery European 2030+, Batteries European Partnership Association, Batt4EU, and standardization committees like DKE or Cenelec.
- Willingness to travel internationally, including to Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, France, UK, other European countries, and China.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and German.
- Knowledge of Chinese and other European languages is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and adaptability to a multicultural environment.
