Chemical Safety Engineer or Specialist

You will be joining a world-leading technology company at their manufacturing technology centre in Weilheim (greater Munich).

Responsibilities

• Oversee the safety management throughout the entire lifecycle of chemicals.
• Ensure compliance in the procurement, transportation, storage, usage, & disposal of chemicals.
• Develop & implement regulations & operational guidelines for chemical handling, including storage, collection, transportation, use, & disposal, & establish training & assessment mechanisms for personnel.
• Set up & maintain hardware facilities for chemical safety in the laboratory & support daily chemical management activities.
• Understand & apply relevant laws & regulations to ensure legal & compliant chemical management in the laboratory.
• Conduct risk assessments for chemicals & develop comprehensive safety control plans, including emergency response plans for chemical accidents.
• Continuously improve chemical safety inspection & assessment plans.
• Identify potential safety hazards throughout the chemical lifecycle, organize discussions to address these hazards, formulate rectification plans, & track the implementation & resolution of safety improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering or similar domain
• 3 years’ experience in chemical management within a chemical or semiconductor plant
• Experience in Certified Safety Engineer, EHS or Chemical Safety Assessment is preferred
• Strong understanding of chemical processes, production, testing, & quality control related to semiconductor chemicals
• Knowledge of the characteristics of various chemicals & key risk control points
• Proactive, independent, meticulous work habits with strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication & presentation skills in English; proficiency in German is a plus
• Ability to work effectively in multicultural & interdisciplinary teams, particularly with a strong Chinese presence would be a plus
