Principal or Expert Engineer – Power System & Grid-Tied Inverter Control

You will be joining a world-leading technology company in their lab in Nuremberg.

Responsibilities

• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop and define control requirements for power systems and grid-tied inverters, especially with the increasing incorporation of renewable energy sources.
• Actively interact with local Grid Operators, Power Suppliers, and Energy Consumers to stay updated on recent advancements, and prepare technical reports for internal distribution.
• Conduct research on the latest power system and grid-tied inverter control technologies, identifying future trends.
• Collaborate with standards organizations to influence and adhere to the latest grid code updates and standards for Solar PV and Energy Storage systems.
• Create and protect innovative ideas through intellectual property rights.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in electrical engineering, power systems, or a related field, with significant relevant work experience.
• Extensive knowledge of power generation, transmission, and distribution, as well as expertise in grid-tied inverter control technologies.
• Proficient in power grid stability technologies, such as grid protection, energy flow control, voltage stability, inverter control, and grid-forming.
• Experienced with national and international standard organizations, with a focus on standards for Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems.
• Demonstrated experience in developing new technologies and innovations in the power systems sector, with a history of publications in leading journals and conferences.
• Highly self-motivated and goal-oriented, with a proactive and innovative approach.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for project-related activities.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English, with additional language skills being advantageous.
