Propulsion Controls Engineer –Functional Safety Software Engineer (ISO 26262 Compliance)
Title: Functional Safety Software Engineer (ISO 26262 Compliance)
Location: Göteborg, Sweden (On-site at designated locations)
Duration: Start date as agreed, with deliverables expected through July 2025
Purpose of the Role
We are seeking hands-on technical engineering expertise to implement functional safety software (FuSa SW) solutions for Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) propulsion systems. The primary focus is practical deliverables that enhance efficiency and align with ISO 26262 standards. This role does not focus on theoretical guidance or process development but rather on creating tangible solutions that integrate into our established development framework.
Key Responsibilities
1. Structured Software Safety Analysis
- Conduct structured safety analysis (e.g., SW FMEA) specifically for software in compliance with ISO 26262.
- Deliver comprehensive reports, safety requirements, and architecture analysis aligned with safety-critical objectives.
2. Testing Strategy
- Selective Unit Testing: Identify and address gaps left by vehicle-level testing, ensuring robust unit-level coverage for safety-critical components.
- Test Flow Implementation: Design and implement a streamlined test flow using compatible tools and workflows that comply with ISO 26262.
- Developer Efficiency: Propose automation tools and workflows to minimize manual developer effort and increase productivity.
3. Software Development Flow and Architecture Analysis
- Optimize software development processes to comply with ISO 26262 and existing internal standards.
- Support toolchain setup and architecture analysis to address safety-critical elements.
- Build confidence in tools and workflows, ensuring compliance levels are met.
4. Maintainable Test Case Creation
- Develop maintainable test cases aligned with safety-critical requirements and existing workflows.
- Focus on improving coverage, reducing redundant testing, and achieving quantifiable efficiency metrics.
5. Compliance Argumentation Support
- Assist in prioritizing and documenting critical safety aspects for ISO 26262 compliance.
- Ensure traceability of requirements, design, and testing for effective compliance verification.
6. Technical Safety Concept (TSC)
- Develop a Technical Safety Concept (TSC) for the propulsion controller, ensuring full alignment with ISO 26262 standards.
Key Deliverables
- Comprehensive safety analysis reports (e.g., SW FMEA).
- Testing strategies and implementation plans.
- Documentation of software architecture analysis and toolchain setup.
- Maintainable and effective test cases.
- Finalized TSC documentation for safety-critical components.
Requirements
- Expertise in functional safety for BEV propulsion systems.
- Hands-on experience with ISO 26262 compliance.
- Strong skills in software safety analysis, testing, and toolchain optimization.
- Familiarity with model-based design, automation, and integration of workflows and tools.
- Ability to deliver practical, developer-friendly solutions.
Support Provided
- Initial guidance on the functional safety concept for the propulsion domain.
- Access to existing processes, tools, and resources, including HIL rigs, CI/CD toolchains, and development environments.
- Engineering reviews to ensure alignment and avoid resource bottlenecks.
Evaluation Metrics (KPIs)
- Completion and thoroughness of software safety analysis deliverables.
- Improvements in unit-level code coverage for safety-critical components.
- Successful implementation of ISO 26262-compliant workflows and toolchains.
- Creation of efficient, maintainable test cases with measurable impact on coverage and redundancy reduction.
- Development of a robust and compliant Technical Safety Concept (TSC).
