Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, simulation, and optimization of FSO communication systems for high performance and reliability.
- Perform system-level trade-off analyses (link budget, aperture size, modulation, error correction).
- Research new FSO technologies and materials to improve efficiency, data throughput, and signal quality.
- Develop system models and simulations using tools like VPI Photonics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate FSO solutions into larger systems.
- Develop test plans and validate system performance in lab and field trials.
- Provide technical leadership in system integration, ensuring systems meet specifications.
- Stay updated on developments in optical communication technologies.
- Contribute to patents, technical papers, and academic collaborations.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- Experience in FSO or optical communication system design and analysis.
- Proficiency with simulation tools (e.g., VPI Photonics).
- Knowledge of optical components (lasers, detectors, beam steering, lenses, modulators).
- Experience with link budget analysis and signal processing for FSO systems.
- Familiarity with environmental impacts on FSO systems (e.g., weather, turbulence).
- Experience in optical system testing and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of wireless communication protocols and error correction.
- Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills, along with excellent communication abilities.
Preferred:
- Experience integrating FSO systems into communication networks.
- Familiarity with machine learning in optical communications.
- Experience with satellite or long-range communication links.
- Published papers or patents in optical communications.
- Experience in a product-driven R&D environment.
