Principal Data Scientist – Recommender Systems
About the Role:
As a Principal Researcher, you’ll lead the advancement of recommender systems by driving innovative research, developing cutting-edge algorithms, and leading initiatives that enhance user experiences for millions globally.
Key Responsibilities:

Algorithm Development: Lead the design and implementation of advanced recommender algorithms to solve complex, real-world challenges.

Research Leadership: Conduct research to explore novel methodologies, pushing the boundaries of recommender systems.

Data Management: Handle large-scale datasets, developing innovative solutions for data acquisition, preparation, and use.

Strategic Direction: Define research strategies, lead projects, and mentor junior researchers for high-impact execution.

Research Dissemination: Publish in top conferences and journals; contribute to Huawei’s intellectual property portfolio through patents.

Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with research partners, universities, and stakeholders to uphold Huawei’s ICT leadership.

Impact Delivery: Demonstrate research outcomes through practical prototypes and system implementations.
Requirements:

Extensive experience in recommender systems and machine learning research with a record of innovation.

Advanced programming skills in Python, R, C, or C++.

Passion for shaping the future of AI and machine learning technologies.

PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields with significant research leadership experience.

Strong publication record in top-tier venues and contributions to intellectual property.

Proven ability to lead projects from concept to implementation, managing complexity and stakeholder expectations.
