OEM Automation Lead
Position Title: Automation Technology Lead – Utilities (API & Drug Product Manufacturing)
Location: South Dublin
Contract Type: 12 moth Rolling
Sector: Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Automation Technology Lead to oversee and drive the automation strategy for utility systems supporting API and drug product manufacturing operations. This role will serve as the technical authority for utility equipment automation, working in collaboration with OEMs, system integrators, and internal stakeholders to ensure systems are compliant, integrated, and fully aligned with operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert for utilities automation systems across the project lifecycle.

Oversee integration of OEM utility systems with site-wide PCS and BMS platforms.

Collaborate closely with system vendors, design engineers, and internal automation teams to define and deliver automation standards and scope.

Lead the development and review of automation specifications, technical RFPs, and vendor deliverables.

Ensure that all automation functionality supports the operational requirements of utility systems for API and drug product manufacturing.

Review and approve functional/design specifications, automation drawings, and configuration documents.

Supervise and participate in FAT/SAT planning and execution.

Ensure system design and coding adhere to high engineering standards and compliance requirements.

Coordinate with process owners, utility teams, QA, and CSV to ensure automation systems meet GMP and regulatory standards.

Drive efficient change control, document management, and system handover to operations.

Support commissioning, qualification, and startup activities in partnership with C&Q teams.
Required Experience and Skills:
-
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in automation for pharmaceutical utilities supporting API or drug product manufacturing.

Proficiency with Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC, and S7 PLCs.
-
Experience with Rockwell ControlLogix and FactoryTalk systems.
-
Familiarity with Siemens Desigo CC BMS platform and building systems integration.

Strong knowledge of network architecture and thin-client setups in regulated environments.

Hands-on experience with both plant utilities (e.g., chillers, heat pumps, air compressors) and clean utilities (e.g., WFI, PW, clean steam).

Proven leadership capabilities and ability to coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams.

Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Demonstrable project delivery experience in regulated pharmaceutical environments.
Preferred:
-
Experience working on greenfield or brownfield manufacturing projects.

Understanding of CSV, GAMP5, and GMP regulatory frameworks.
