About the Role
Machinelab is seeking an experienced and driven Robotics & Automation Control Engineer to join our growing team. This position offers the opportunity to work on innovative, customised automation solutions across life sciences and food & beverage sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, and integration of bespoke robotics and control systems—ranging from high-speed servo-driven delta robots to cost-efficient cobots and 2-axis solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement robotics and control solutions using platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, and Emerson.
• Develop control system architectures integrating mechanical, electrical, and software components with seamless communication via Ethernet IP, Profibus, CANbus, and other industrial protocols.
• Support the integration of machine control systems into customer environments with Active Directory, Time Sync, Audit Trails, and 21 CFR Part 11 readiness.
• Program PLCs and HMIs using Structured Text, Ladder Logic, and Block Diagram across a range of platforms.
• Ensure systems are ready for Batch Control, MES integration, and use of OPC UA and similar protocols for data exchange.
• Participate in FAT/SAT, commissioning, and ongoing support of automated systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical design, software, and validation teams to ensure reliable, compliant system delivery.

Required Experience & Skills

• Degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience in custom machine build or robotic systems integration.
• Proficiency in programming Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, and/or Emerson control systems.
• Strong knowledge of motion control, robotics (delta robots, cobots, SCARA), and vision systems.
• Hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet IP, Profibus, Canbus).
• Familiarity with GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, and working in regulated environments (GxP, HACCP).
• Strong troubleshooting, commissioning, and technical documentation skills.
