A leading global technology company is seeking an experienced Lab Director to head its Wireless Network Algorithms Laboratory*in Sweden.
 This position requires a visionary leader with deep technical knowledge in wireless systems (e.g., 5G/6G, AI/ML-driven optimization), a strong research background, and proven experience managing high-performing R&D teams. You’ll be driving innovation at the intersection of academia and industry, shaping the future of wireless communication.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership

• Define and lead the lab’s vision for next-gen wireless algorithms
• Mentor and grow a multidisciplinary R&D team
• Oversee budgets, resources, and lab operations

Research & Innovation

• Guide research in wireless algorithms and AI/ML for telecom
• Publish in top-tier venues and turn research into real-world solutions
• Stay ahead of industry trends and steer technical direction

Collaboration & Outreach

• Partner with academia, research institutes, and industry
• Represent the lab at global conferences and technical forums
• Align research efforts with product and business strategy

Governance & Development

• Ensure high research quality, IP protection, and compliance
• Monitor performance and develop team skills for future challenges
• Secure external funding and partnerships to expand lab capabilities

Qualifications:

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• 10+ years in wireless communications R&D (signal processing, network optimization, AI/ML)
• 5+ years of technical leadership experience in academic or industry labs
• Strong publication and patent record
• Deep familiarity with 3GPP, IEEE standards, and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, NS-3)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Preferred:

• Experience translating research into commercial solutions
• Knowledge of global telecom ecosystems and open-source initiatives
