Standardization Engineer – Wearables

Join our EU Standards & Industry Development team as a Wearables Standards & Interoperability Lead, based in Europe. You’ll be at the forefront of shaping the future of wearables, focusing on critical standardization efforts within major European and international organizations like IEC. Your work will directly influence the development of testing protocols, health data interoperability, and the promotion of certification for our consumer wearables.

Responsibilities

• Global Standards Leadership: Represent our Consumer Business Group (CBG) in international forums like IEC and ISO, contributing to the evolution of wearable device, health, and sports domains. Drive innovation in CBG’s wearables standardization, including testing procedures, health data interoperability, and application guidelines.
• Strategic Alignment & Execution: Collaborate closely with CBG’s European and HQ departments to ensure timely business alignment, provide internal progress reports, and deliver impactful external presentations. You’ll also be responsible for defining strategies, work plans, and their execution.
• Ecosystem Promotion: Champion innovative applications and pilot programs with EU partners, leveraging wearable technologies to drive CBG’s business success across Europe.
• Event & Project Support: Provide support for EU-SID CBG events, summits, and workshops related to wearables and broader initiatives, and assist with project management and internal business coordination within the department.

Essential Requirements

• Educational Foundation: A Master’s or PhD in wearables manufacturing, computer science, or a related field.
• Market & Policy Insight: Ability to deliver insightful reports derived from public policies, regulations, technological advancements, and market trends. Exceptional presentation skills are a must.
• Standardization Expertise: Proven experience participating in standards development within organizations like IEC/ISO. You should possess a deep understanding of the standards development lifecycle and the ability to effectively advocate for new standards.
• Collaborative Communicator: Strong internal and external communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to thrive in a multi-cultural environment.
• Language Proficiency: Fluent in both spoken and written English. Proficiency in other languages is a plus.
