Automation Infrastructure Engineer
ob Title: Automation Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Ireland – On-site
Type: Contract or Permanent

Overview:
We’re seeking a skilled Automation Infrastructure Engineer to support the delivery, integration, and maintenance of advanced automation systems in a modern biomanufacturing environment. This role focuses on ensuring critical systems remain reliable, compliant, and optimized for continuous operations.
You’ll work as part of a cross-functional team responsible for implementing and supporting automation platforms that underpin high-performance pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure high availability and performance of automation systems that support key manufacturing operations
- Design, configure, and qualify systems including Rockwell FactoryTalk, ThinManager, and AssetCentre
- Manage automation network health and security using protocols such as OPC, MQTT, TCP/IP, and HTTP
- Monitor system performance and proactively respond to application or infrastructure issues
- Act as a subject matter expert for data historian systems and automation system integration
- Lead the design and deployment of end-to-end data solutions for manufacturing and compliance
- Support system upgrades, migrations, and validation in collaboration with QA and IT infrastructure teams
- Deliver documentation for automation systems, including SOPs and system specifications
- Manage lifecycle planning, patching schedules, and preventative maintenance activities
- Contribute to process investigations and troubleshooting as part of the automation support team
Ideal Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline
- 3+ years (Engineer) / 5+ years (Senior Engineer) of hands-on experience in a GMP-regulated automation environment
- Strong technical expertise in Rockwell Automation platforms and thin client infrastructure
- Familiarity with data communication standards and secure industrial network protocols
- Experience integrating automation systems with MES, SCADA, historians, and IT platforms
- Knowledge of validation processes and quality standards in biopharma or life sciences
- Proactive mindset with strong collaboration and project coordination skills
- Comfortable leading troubleshooting efforts and technical decision-making in real-time
