Faulty Analysis Lab Engineer

You will be joining a world-leading technology company at in Nuremberg, within their growing energy storage lab!

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the energy system failure analysis laboratory, providing support for the analysis of energy storage product failures across Europe, including electrical, cell, & general failure diagnostics.
• Regularly review & analyze failure analysis results on a monthly or annual basis, identify trends, & propose innovative solutions to enhance product design in collaboration with energy storage specialists.
• Lead the development & expansion of the failure analysis center’s capabilities, continually refining the lab’s scope to meet evolving requirements.
• Manage the lab’s planning & setup in compliance with German standards & local regulatory requirements.
• Facilitate consistent communication & information exchange with local authorities to ensure smooth operation & regulatory adherence

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in managing a battery laboratory, with a background in battery testing & scientific analysis.
• Solid understanding of battery cell & system technologies, including the failure modes & analysis techniques for lithium-ion batteries.
• Proficient in identifying common failure mechanisms in lithium-ion batteries & knowledgeable about the corresponding failure analysis processes.
• Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to synthesize & interpret complex information effectively.
• Self-motivated with an independent, goal-oriented work approach, a positive “can-do” attitude, & a passion for learning & innovative thinking.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for project-related activities.
• Fluency in English (the primary working language) & the ability to communicate effectively in German with local authorities.
