Junior Cybersecurity Engineer
Junior Cybersecurity Operations Engineer
Full-Time Contract (initial 12months duration) – Fully remote
About the role:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-orientated Cybersecurity Operations Engineer to join our security team. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in cybersecurity by working alongside experienced professionals to protect and monitor enterprise systems. You will play a crucial role in support cybersecurity operations, responding to security incidents, and assisting in the implementation of security solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in monitoring and analysing security events from various sources (SIEM, Firewalls, endpoint security etc.)
• Support incident detection, investigation, and response efforts to mitigate security threats.
• Assist with vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and remediation activities.
• Participate in threat intelligence gathering and analysis.
• Help enforce security policies and procedures to protect company assets.
• Maintain and update security documentation, reports and logs.
• Collaborate with other IT and security teams to improve the overall security posture.
• Assist in security awareness training and best practices for employees.
• Stay up to date with emerging cybersecurity threats and trends.
Qualification & Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Computer Science or equivalent discipline.
• Prior working experience in Cybersecurity related role.
• Basic understanding of security concepts, including malware analysis, network security and incident response.
• Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM, Vulnerability Management, endpoint protection, and firewalls.
• Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, VPNs, etc.)
• Advanced knowledge of Linux.
• Knowledge of Windows & Mac OS.
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or equivalent (preferred but not required).
