Lead Principal SiC Design Simulation Expert

You will be joining a world-leading technology company at their manufacturing technology centre in Weilheim (greater Munich).

Responsibilities

• Optimize existing SiC power technologies and assist in the development of next-generation SiC products, ensuring alignment with company roadmaps.
• Utilize TCAD simulation tools to predict variations in device electrical characteristics based on process specifications, identifying potential weaknesses and optimizing layout and processes before manufacturing implementation.
• Collaborate with the process integration team to ensure design rules are compatible with manufacturing capabilities.
• Design test chips and process/device monitoring structures for process control, and simulate DOE short loops to improve process stability and enhance yield.
• Troubleshoot layout design issues and apply proactive interventions by working closely with the design team to ensure optimal device performance.
• Develop device models using TCAD tools and electrical data analysis, and support Process & Design FMEA, Risk Assessment, and Control Plans for new product integration.
• Contribute to the development of new SiC MOSFET and Diode concepts, translating them into innovative layout and process solutions to advance future SiC technologies according to application specifications.
• Analyze SiC power technology and industry trends, anticipating future developments for both existing and new applications within the company’s domains.
• Serve as the main interface for process-related topics among production, quality departments, technology/product development, and backend operations.
• Collaborate with internal and external research institutions to introduce and optimize new SiC processes.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Semiconductor Technology, Microsystems Technology, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in SiC design, ideally with a leading SiC industrial manufacturer.
• Extensive knowledge of semiconductor device physics and process integration, with a focus on SiC power devices, including MOSFETs and diodes.
• Proficiency in TCAD tools (such as Silvaco, Synopsys) and layout tools (e.g., KLayout, Layout Editor).
• Experience in testing and characterizing SiC power devices, with an understanding of power device reliability.
• Demonstrated ability to lead successful projects, with strong technical problem-solving skills and experience using methods and tools for evaluation and data analysis.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English; proficiency in German and/or Chinese is an advantage.
