Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and innovative expert in Silicon Photonics Heterogeneous Integration to lead the development of cutting-edge integration schemes for advanced photonic systems. This role focuses on integrating active devices like lasers, modulators, and photodetectors into next-generation transceivers and other high-performance platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in heterogeneous integration, laser technologies, and Silicon Photonics, combined with strong project management and team leadership abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Heterogeneous Integration Development
  Design and implement advanced integration processes for incorporating active and passive photonic components into Silicon Photonics platforms, overseeing their fabrication and characterization.

• Process Architecture and Optimization
  Define and optimize process modules for integrating lasers, semiconductor optical amplifiers, photodetectors, and other devices, ensuring performance and cost-effectiveness.

• Collaborative Innovation
  Work closely with design, process engineering, and system teams to align integration efforts with platform goals. Act as a bridge between design and fabrication teams to ensure smooth communication and execution.

• Project Leadership
  Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables. Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, addressing technical challenges and fostering collaboration.

• Research and Feasibility Studies
  Conduct feasibility analyses and prototypes for new integration methods. Drive innovation in Silicon Photonics by exploring advancements in materials, device physics, and integration techniques.

• Documentation and Reporting
  Prepare detailed documentation of processes and results. Clearly communicate findings and recommendations to relevant teams.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  Ph.D. or Master’s in Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field with a focus on Silicon Photonics and heterogeneous integration.

• Technical Expertise:

  • Advanced knowledge of photonic device fabrication and heterogeneous integration technologies.
  • Solid understanding of device physics and performance requirements.
  • Familiarity with quantum dot gain media is a plus.
  • Experience with tools like Lumerical and COMSOL Multiphysics is advantageous.

• Soft Skills:

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate complex, multi-stage R&D projects.
  • Effective communicator capable of explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Team leadership experience and interest in people management are a bonus.
