Senior DC/DC Converter Power Electronics Engineer – Computing Systems (xPU, HPCs)

You will be joining a world-leading technology company at their lab in Nuremberg.

Responsibilities

• Select and optimize power topologies for BMP, PSiP, and VRM applications in computing systems (xPU, HPCs), based on specific requirements and specifications.
• Develop simulation models to accurately estimate losses in highly compact power supply modules.
• Propose new concepts focusing on power topologies and control for high-frequency, high-step-down conversion ratio DC-DC converters.
• Design and model high-bandwidth control schemes for DC-DC converters.
• Produce detailed insight reports on DC-DC converter topologies, control, magnetic components, semiconductors, and packaging used in BMP, PSiP, and VRM for computing applications (xPU, HPCs).
• Conduct feasibility analyses for cutting-edge concepts related to DC-DC converters in computing applications (xPU, HPCs).
• Build and maintain collaborations with industrial institutions and universities across Europe.
• Supervise and mentor less experienced colleagues.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD degree in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing highly compact and efficient DC-DC converters for BMP, PSiP, and VRM applications in computing systems (xPU, HPCs).
• Familiarity with appropriate power topologies (e.g., SC BUCK, LLC, CDR, DCX) for BMP, PSiP, and VRM applications in computing systems (xPU, HPCs).
• Knowledge of high switching-speed semiconductor devices (Si and GaN), including gate-driver design, operation, and performance.
• Fluent communication and presentation skills in English.
• Experience with defining power management integrated circuits (PMIC) and power supply package design is a plus.
• Experience in designing high-frequency, high-current magnetic components is a plus.
