Silicon Validation Engineer

Job function SCALINX is seeking a passionate Silicon Validation Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the functionality, performance, and reliability of silicon chips by designing, executing, and analyzing validation tests. You will collaborate closely with design, verification, and test engineering teams to validate hardware designs and ensure they meet product specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced international environment.

Work description

• Design and implement comprehensive test plans and validation strategies/methodologies for silicon chips, including high-speed interfaces, analog/mixed-signal circuits, and digital logic.
• Execute validation tests in lab environments using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other test equipment.
• Develop scripts and automation tools to facilitate efficient validation testing and data collection (mostly in Python).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, firmware, and software engineers, to define validation requirements and resolve issues.
• Debug and troubleshoot silicon issues by analyzing test data and performing root-cause analysis.
• Report test results, identify key performance metrics, and document findings to support design modifications.
• Provide feedback and work closely with design and verification teams to ensure the silicon meets its functional and performance goals.
• Participate in silicon bring-up, characterization, and performance optimization.
• Contribute to the definition and reviews of the validation hardware and GUIs.
• Stay current with industry trends, tools, and validation techniques to ensure best practices are followed.

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in high frequency/RF silicon validation, semiconductor testing, or related areas.
• Strong knowledge of silicon validation tools and methodologies, including test automation.
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python/JupyterLab, Perl, or similar for test automation.
• Strong understanding of digital and analog circuit design, signal integrity, and timing analysis.
• Knowledge of signal processing is a plus (noise, distortion, FFT, correlation, etc.)
• Experience with several interfaces: PCIe, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, LVDS, etc.
