Sr. Principal Field Applications Engineer

A top-tier semiconductor and silicon IP provider is seeking an experienced Sr. Principal Field Applications Engineer to join the team. This role involves close collaboration with customers to help transform their ideas into effective, real-world applications across various markets, focusing on security and performance-enhancing technologies. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Field Applications Engineering, this full-time role sits within the sales organization, prioritizing customer education and support for the company’s comprehensive IP portfolio. A hybrid work model is offered, with an expectation of three days onsite weekly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Collaboration: Work with sales and marketing to assess customer technical and business needs and develop strategic solutions using the company’s IP.
• Technical Presentation: Showcase IP offerings with a focus on embedded security, cryptographic protocols, Public Key Infrastructure, and anti-tamper technologies.
• Design Win Support: Collaborate with sales to secure design wins, building account strategies to gain a competitive edge.
• Feedback and Development Influence: Provide feedback to R&D and marketing to enhance IP development and address market competition.
• Customer Support and Demos: Lead demos and offer technical support, both onsite and remotely, during customer evaluations and conferences.
• Content Creation: Draft application notes, articles, design ideas, and product proposals for internal and external audiences.
• Travel: Approximately 15-20% travel to support customers and coordinate with sales and engineering teams.

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience: BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or related) with 10+ years of experience, or an MS with 8+ years of relevant work.
• Technical Expertise: Strong background in SoC architectures and system-level design for sectors like mobile, automotive, networking, or IoT.
• Security Knowledge: Proficiency in cryptographic algorithms, PKI, Key Management, side-channel mitigation, and anti-tamper tech.
• Platform Security Architecture: Experience with platform security and IP integration for diverse security use cases.
• Communication and Presentation: Excellent ability to present complex technical ideas clearly, with strong organizational and coordination skills.
• Customer-Facing Experience: Experience supporting IP design, integration, or selection in a client-facing or applications engineering role is preferred.
