Staff ASIC Design Engineer – RTL & Constraints

A leading semiconductor design company is looking for an experienced ASIC Design Engineer to join its team in Ottawa. The role will focus on cutting-edge projects in networking technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret high-level project requirements and develop detailed technical specifications.
• Create and implement synthesis and timing constraints for complex blocks and subsystems.
• Design and develop complex RTL logic (primarily using Verilog or SystemVerilog) and execute tasks such as block-level simulation, ASIC synthesis, and timing closure.
• Collaborate closely with verification, design, hardware, and support teams.
• Support product integration, conduct lab bring-up, and troubleshoot issues at the system level.
• Provide technical support to customers, guiding them through complex technical challenges.

Requirements
The ideal candidate is a Staff or Principal IC Design Engineer with the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in progressive roles within ASIC design.
• In-depth experience in modern ASIC development, including RTL logic design, synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), linting, logic equivalence checking (LEC), and familiarity with place and route (PnR).
• Expertise in developing synthesis and timing constraints for large, timing-critical digital designs with complex logic blocks and subsystems.
• Proficiency in handling complex asynchronous clock domains and high-speed serial interfaces.
• Hands-on lab experience troubleshooting system-level issues.
• Knowledge or experience with one or more of the following: ARM A-series Application Processor Sub-Systems, Processor Fabric Interfaces (preferably ARM, both coherent and non-coherent), caches, non-volatile memory, networking switch/router datapaths, packet processing, OTN, and Ethernet.
• Familiarity with industry-standard interfaces such as 10/25/40/100Gb Ethernet, OTN, PCIe, SPI, I2C, USB, AXI, AHB, AMBA, GPIO, SRIO, DDR/SDRAM/DMA, and non-volatile memories.
• Strong test verification and scripting skills are essential.
