6G Wireless Research Engineer
A leading developer of mobile technologies that power devices, networks, and services globally are growing their future Wireless research capabilities. They address the industry’s most critical technical challenges, creating solutions for efficient broadband networks, advanced video delivery, and enriched multimedia experiences, all years ahead of market deployment. The company maintains licenses and strategic relationships with many top-tier technology companies worldwide.
The Wireless Research group leads pioneering wireless research projects, identifying future technology needs, developing proof-of-concept prototypes, and driving innovation with a system-centric approach. Currently at the forefront of 6G research, the team is seeking a highly motivated wireless engineer to join their technology R&D team to design, model, and simulate 6G technologies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with 3GPP system and link level simulations in MATLAB, leveraging these tools to analyze and evaluate new concepts. This role requires close collaboration with various teams within the Wireless Lab, presenting work internally, and drafting documents for external contributions and presentations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced research in physical layer, MAC layer, and air-interface design for next-generation mobile communication systems.
- Research, analyze, and evaluate cellular systems; develop wireless protocols and algorithm designs using theoretical analysis, link-level, or system-level simulations for beyond 5G/6G.
- Perform theoretical analysis of channel models, using mathematical models and empirical data to represent wireless channel propagation characteristics accurately. Create and implement channel models for various environments, analyze simulation results, and perform statistical analysis on quantified channel behavior.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and/or technical papers surveying state-of-the-art developments, detailing design and development efforts, and presenting evaluation results.
- Collaborate with team members to publish findings in leading scientific conferences and journals.
- Drive technology generation, write disclosures, support patent applications, and provide downstream support.
- Assist in developing 3GPP standards contributions as necessary.
- Engage in pre-standards efforts, supporting university and industry collaborations.
Qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
- 10+ years of post-Ph.D. work experience (or 14+ years of post-M.S. experience) in wireless communications.
- Proficiency in link level (L1/PHY) and/or system level (L1/PHY, L2/MAC) simulations and MATLAB is required.
- Strong background and experience in 3GPP and cellular systems, wireless protocol development, and wireless communications fundamentals: mmWave, sub-THz, beamforming, RF/EM propagation, channel modeling, advanced waveform design. Knowledge of 3GPP stochastic channel model and near-field is a plus.
- Research experience in Beyond 5G or 6G with a record of peer-reviewed publications.
