ERL are supporting a leading Medical Device manufacturer based in Cork.
Job Title: Operations Support Specialist – Production Scheduler
Department: Bioprocess Supply/Column Packing
Reports To: Business Unit Manager
Primary Responsibility
The Operations Support Specialist – Production Scheduler is responsible for overseeing and directing biotech production planning, execution, and control. This role involves translating the master production schedule, project plans, and maintenance requirements into detailed day-to-day schedules. Additionally, the Operations Support Specialist performs scenario modeling and facilitates production schedule business decisions. Strong cross-functional collaboration is anticipated to ensure adherence to the plan and drive continuous improvement for planning, communication, visibility, and timely support of schedule attainment.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert the Master Production Schedule (MPS) into detailed day-to-day production schedules.
- Optimize production schedules based on MPS, operational demands, and available capacity.
- Assist in the development of medium-term plans to support scenario analysis, conflict analysis, and production schedule business decisions.
- Provide planning support to the operations team for all operations planning-related aspects.
- Assist the Operations Team Lead in coordinating operations activities and responding to changes in demand.
- Act as the main point of contact for all functional areas to gather critical planning information required for updating and progressing operations plans (e.g., validation, maintenance, engineering, etc.).
- Promote an environment conducive to planning improvements aligned with site strategies, ensure MPS alignment, and incorporate project feedback into production plans.
- Facilitate daily operations team meetings and weekly supply review meetings.
- Conduct monthly resource forecasting in collaboration with Operations Team Leads.
- Communicate the production plan across operations areas, identifying any production or material constraints that may affect progress. Work with operations and planning groups to resolve constraints.
- Respond to changes in demand/schedule by analyzing updated plans and highlighting areas of risk or schedule conflict to the operations manager.
- Collect and disseminate data required for monthly reporting.
- Generate and present daily, weekly, and monthly reports and metrics as necessary.
Key Competencies Required
- Excellent understanding of operations scheduling processes.
- Ability to collect, analyze, summarize, and report on data related to production activities.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to operate in a highly collaborative manner within a cross-functional organization.
- Demonstrates flexibility and effective response to changing priorities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Customer-focused.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively and efficiently.
- Third-level qualification, preferably in a science-related field.2-3 years of experience in (bio) pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Relevant qualification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS, IIPMM) advantageous.
- Lean/Continuous Improvement qualifications advantageous
