General Summary:
This position is based in our Cork office – onsite 5 days per week.
Systems Engineer (Cork)
Sensors-based technology has a wide range of low-power and edge AI applications including navigation, privacy preserving user behavior modeling, activity recognition and indoor localization for multimedia, wearables, IOT devices, and compute platforms. This role, ideally suited for candidates who have a breadth of knowledge in DSP, ML, and C coding, span the whole product life cycle from early R&D to commercial deployment. The successful candidate will work with systems, software, and integration/test engineers in the QCT sensors group.
Job responsibilities include:
· Working with global systems and software teams
· Developing sensor algorithms in high level languages (MATLAB, Python) including algorithm performance validation.
· Optimizing the DSP operations for edge AI, floating to fixed point implementation and optimizing bitwidths for embedding features on low-power devices.
· Making effective engineering tradeoffs between performance, memory, power consumption, and computational complexity
· Embedded software development in C/C++ for fixed & floating-point based designs
· Creating reports on algorithm evaluation results and delivering complete design and user documentation
· Communication of the design, results and issues to the product management, systems and SW leads
The position is technology focused and involves participation in a broad range of sensors systems engineering activities within the Sensors Technologies group
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science
· Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, or related field
· PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, or related.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the following areas:
· Understanding of basic concepts of digital signal processing and Machine learning.
· Some experience in optimizing the DSP operations for edge AI, floating to fixed point implementation and optimizing bitwidths for embedding features on low-power devices.
· Understanding of linear algebra, probability and statistics
· Basic Machine Learning concepts including supervised and unsupervised learning, feature extraction, classification, logistic regression, Bayesian inference and Neural Networks
· Embedded programming skills with C/C++
· Strong analytical skills and ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced team environment
· Knowledge of MEMs & inertial sensors
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.
OR
Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field.
